Every society needs to have its fringe, transgressive counterculture. I would live at the abandoned strip mine, entreating the slumbering devil of ages past. Presuming the steel is not reclaimed for use in homes or ecological projects.
I would pray to it for resilience and to supplicate its spirit to never return. Its thirst for industry must be quelled with songs and the aromas of cooked food, lest it seep back out into the land and inspire folk to consume the earth again.
The creaks and groans of the metal in the wind would lull me to sleep, and its bulk would shelter me from rain.
a Bagger 288
There is only one Bagger 288. The excavators are numbered, so it’s not a model number, it is a unit number :)
Im so foolish! How did I not know that? I have to change my post. To Wikipedia, I go. Thank you!
Wait the name is more recognizable. What should I do? Just call it “Bagger series excavator”?
Bagger 288 is probably the most well known. I wouldn’t worry too much about it but if you wanted to be correct, all you have to do is change “a Bagger 288” to just “Bagger 288” imho :)
Ty!
You should absolutely read After the Revolution, written by Behind the Bastards host Robert Evans. Heavily features a fringe, transgressive counterculture that built a city on the back of a bagger 288.

…and then one day some scaffolding fails and you fall deep into the darkness like Gandalf.
This is sweet but for your own safety don’t live in one of those.
