Well that website links to livestream.eff.org, and that page says the stream will be “simulcast”, i.e. mirrored, to Twitch and Youtube. So the main channel is indeed free.

You have to meet your audience where they are at. Twitch makes a lot of sense and has a lot of reach.
You can reach your audience from a variety of channels. At least one of them should be free. This should be seeringly obvious to an org like EFF.
