3·2 months agoSame here. I won’t consider any of them and I was going to get an index, but it’s getting pretty old.
I had an original oculus dev kit and thought it was cool back then. Frame is gonna be an instant buy for me and I’m beyond excited.
The very question of “why isn’t Lemmy doing anything” is deeply misunderstanding the structure of this network. Report something offending and instance mods will look at it. You know, like all the reports I got about this post.

3·5 months agoI moved to Bazzite and really liked it. You lose a little bit of control (encouraged to do things the bazzite way because it’s based off fedora atomic) but the ease of use more than makes up for it.
I think the big difference is that they seem to be optimizing for customer satisfaction where others are not.
My favorite example I use often is how the Steam Deck comes with a case. It’s free and there’s not even an option to not get it. They know you need one, they include it. The Switch doesn’t come with a case. They know you need one but they don’t care. You’ll buy one if you want it bad enough and that’s more revenue.
It’s just a different type of optimization.

I found it really easy to get started with. Although I’d recommend KDE over Gnome. I tried Gnome for a few hours before changing my mind and it was just a little too different from what I was used to.
This is me. Always Windows for my gaming computer and when I built a new one recently, I went full Linux. No regrets so far.
The irony is that AI understood your comment way better than I did.

01·6 months agoI was just trying to engage in the conversation when ultimately I come from a place of ignorance. I’ll take my LLM and go back to my corner with my bad ideas.
I’d love to see you try to take some and put it into alcohol as a precursor for home perfumery. ChatGPT says it would serve well as a fixative (and provide some scent as well). I’d be super curious to see you take on that process.
