Two things come to mind:
a) Fedi really needs to grow beyond “Twitter clone for nerds”…most of the infra is already good, it’s more of a marketing problem now.
b) if ATProto doesn’t meaningfully evolve beyond Bluesky this year, it’s cooked at any hope of being convincingly decentralized. Time to put up or, well, y’know.
My money is on (a) being much more likely than (b), but we’ll see.

ATProto is unable to be decentralized, by design. Bsky.social has a moderation right on all inter-instance communication. Other instances can only affect what comes in or out their instances.
Also BlueSky’s people sold it to really horrible people once. They will do it again.
But there have been so many people out there claiming that ATProto really is a form of decentralized social media. All I’m saying is, OK. Let’s see it! C’mon! Do it! I’ll happily join the first truly decentralized public ATProto platform with no reliance on bsky infra or policies.
