  • Nice find! And I’d have to agree on all points lol. I find myself gravitating more towards crust punk after discovering so much more hardcore punk stuff, even genuinely love neo-crust. But that’s like within a few weeks/months ago; had I heard about this band sooner I would have been singing its praises to anyone with any love for punk or extreme metal!

  • I would probably draw the line similarly to how Anthrax is categorized. Essentially I’d call Lich King pure 2nd wave thrash metal, which happened to take a lot of inspiration from crossover and hardcore punk. They’re very similar to Municpal Waste, however, I’d call MW crossover thrash. So while Anthrax also took a lot of inspiration from the hardcore punk scene, especially the NYC scene, they still played pure thrash metal. Sorta similar situation to Power Trip too! Lol but they teeter just over the crossover line imo.

Tldr: in my opinion Lich King is pure thrash metal.

Ah, I was not entirely aware of this, and appreciate you for this knowledge. This is disappointing as I thought I just found some more great extreme music but alas. It’s so tiring to remain vigilant in the consumption of random media to avoid every single little thing that could possibly be something shitty. Like we’re fighting against bogey-men. I’ll remove the links to their stuff in an attempt to stymie any particular progression right-ways.

Edit: I’m putting back the links and my praise. Symbols are similar but not nazi shit thankfully.

  • Suspect all you want, they seem to be apolitical. Bands sometimes use symbols they create to represent them:

    Metallica's M-star thing

    Judas Priest's pitchfork/cross thing

Friggin' metalcore's Chimaira has that weird compass star with arrows and a goofy looking C inside it

Death metal band Arch Enemy has the circle with the protrusions in the lower left of it

Can’t derive any more meaning from it unless you give meaning to it specifically.
