I’m wondering how this actually works. I don’t think our IT team would ever allow it, but even if they did, you’d have to be able to run everything M$ (Teams, excel, etc), onedrive/sharepoint, windows specific software like CAD, Bluebeam, use Chrome-only software like Autodesk stuff -
It seems kind of dumb to even do that, since you’d be locked into that M$ ecosystem anyway. But I’m curious if anyones done it.
Yes, for about 15 years. I was a Linux/Unix admin at several places, and I ran Linux on my computer (laptop and desktop) as it’s such a horrible experience to remote admin Linux hosts from Windows. At the last place, because they had mandated everyone to use Skype for Business for online meetings, and switched off OWA, I actually had an old windoze laptop just for meetings and email. I had tried running 'doze in a VM, but it didn’t work well enough for video calls, because of problems with efficiently forwarding USB ports to the VM for camera and mic, and video performance.
My last job was back to windoze support, and in that respect was NOT fun.
