As someone from Europe that flag made me do a double take… I looked it up, and ufw seems like a good organisation, but those colours in that combination are imo a baffling choice for any org after the 1930s and 1940s.

I understand the confusion but the eagle is Aztec so it’s an important symbol. It’s important to stand in solidarity with our Latinx brothers and sisters right now because they are under attack much like the European Jews were. Working class solidarity is really important in America right now as you can see I’m sure. My school is presenting in the gallery and a teacher asked me to show this piece.
Yeah it’s not confusion. That flag’s design is objectively bad. The eagle isn’t the problem it’s the colors. It’s like a Jolly Roger with a straw hat is still a jolly roger. Well a red flag with a black and white eagle is… Not a good choice post 1939.
Ok well it’s the flag of the farm worker union. I support and value farm workers. It’s ok that you don’t like it art is subjective.
Your art is great. They’re questioning the judgement of the flag designer, not the quality of your art.
They chose the flag that they did, so what can you do? Not like you can redesign the flag without losing the reference.

Well it is the flag Caesar Chavez flew so it is an important symbol of working class solidarity and Latinx pride in the United States

Just as a note, as someone who is latina, most of us hate the term latinx. It’s not even pronounceable in Spanish. Latine is better, or just latino tbh
