Anyone else identifying a lot with these ADHD and Autism posts more than they should?

Never been diagnosed with either but I’m also like 40 something now. Wasn’t something we checked when we were younger.

Keep in mind that this is a meme community, not a diagnostic tool. People muddle up all sorts of topics with ADHD that feel relatable but aren’t diagnostic criteria. Perfectionism for example isn’t specific for ADHD or neurodiversity at all, and that’s true for many things that get shared as memes here.

Get yourself checked if you think you might have something

But one of my favorite things I saw a post say (and I’m paraphrasing)

“Everyone forgets things, everyone has trouble understanding, everyone has issues focusing. Everyone also pees but when you pee 60 times a day you go see a doctor”

Another thing I’ve seen people say is they definitely think they might be on a spectrum, but would getting tested, and by extension medication, actually help. For some the answer was no because they already had coping mechanisms and strategies that worked

But like I said if you think medication could help, see your doctor and get that beautiful brain drugged up

Yea… 30-something here and it’s uncanny how relatable these are. I’m taking them with a pinch of salt because they’re memes, but there’s some truth to it I’m convinced. Personally, it just coincides too much with my life experience to be unrelated. If you live in a country where these diagnostics are a thing I’d encourage you to go get one. I’m not sure I can do this where I live but I want to. I want answers

There’s also a reason it’s addressed as a “spectrum”… There are many subdivisions of neurodiversity, given more time and research I’m sure we could learn quite a bit more that would help explain these behaviors/traits and help people manage and understand these things.
