You just happened to stumble across the stupidest motherfucker alive. Probably alive. Those risky decisions don’t take themselves.

  • You can absolutely do that.

But do be careful with kde-full if you’re running very old hardware. I’m talking about <4gb DDR3, CPUs from Obama’s first term etc.

I’m not saying KDE’s “bloated”; I am still in absolute shock at how light it is compared to Windows.

But if you are dealing with hardware that needs a daily lethal dose of donepezil, opt for kde-standard

    (Difficult lesson I learned)

  • What’s the general plan of action when a company’s base region shits the bed?

Keep dormant mirrored resources in other regions?

I presumed the draw of us-east-1 was its lower cost, so if any solutions involve spending slightly more money, I’m not surprised high profile companies put all their eggs in one basket.

  • I have a strong suspicion that 90% of that shit is not being backed up. If a server gets deleted for whatever reason, all the documentation is extra gone with a side of never coming back.

No wayback machine, no wget, no open source. Add in server moderators can go rogue or get hacked at any given time. Recipe for catastrophic shitshows
