“For the power of inclosing Land, and owning Propriety, was brought into the Creation by your Ancestors by the Sword; which first did murther their fellow Creatures, Men, and after plunder or steal away their Land, and left this Land successively to you, their Children. And therefore, though you did not kill or theeve, yet you hold that cursed thing in your hand, by the power of the Sword; and so you justifie the wicked deeds of your Fathers; and that sin of your Fathers, shall be visited upon the Head of you, and your Children, to the third and fourth Generation, and longer too, till your bloody and theeving power be rooted out of the Land.”

Yeah, there was confusion (and accusations I was spreading misinformation) because zip is still running 1.6.0-dev, with the old wording. While the new wording on .social running 1.6.1 seems like a needed improvement.

51·9 days agoPersonally I think IPFS or similar will be a better solution to decentralised video, federation seems inefficient for it, but I’ll be happy to be proven wrong.
Shame the US gov killed LBRY, that seemed kinda promising too.

911·13 days agoThis guy is both somewhat correct but also insufferable. It’s a big case of don’t shoot the message.
He also seems to insist on his own weird definition of “woke”. In general it’s used to define an obsession with identity politics that is entirely devoid of material and class analysis, of a kind that is especially prominent among the PMC, which nutrek is a perfect example of.
It’s a shame, this kind of video could be exactly the kind of thing that helps build bridges to de-reactionisation of alienated “nerds”. It sets out in a Marxist context a structured explanation of what I’ve seen more cohereant righties try to express, but instead he chooses to insult people.

1·30 days agoI’m not saying that instances shouldn’t have default blocklists, but that users should have the right to disable them granularly.

Self Hosted - Self-hosting your services.@lemmy.ml•Does it make sense to host your own instance of lemmy for one user?
16·10 months agoThere are domains you can register privately, if that’s a concern.
The main advantage is not having an admin block you from talking to certain people by defederating the instance they use.
