Is sOix this modern “sleep” people are talking about? Idle?

Wait, how do you get it out of sleep then? Hard shut down by holding the power button down for a few seconds?

Aren’t Dell and Lenovo one company now?
Was the only solution to the sleeping problem on Windows to switch laptops?

Dell support even told me, with a straight face, that if I didn’t fully shut down my laptop before putting in my bag that I’d void the warranty.
That’s insane, what the fuck? BTW, the owner of Dell is a right-wing dude who supports DHH. I’m not surprised they they have such shitty customer service.

Interesting. “s2Idle” sounds like it’s idling and wasting cycles when it’s supposed to be sleeping. I’ll try those commands.
Also perplexing to me that idle is chosen as a default.

Power state? Is that what’s going on?

The bigger question isv will you be able to tell whether it’s an AI contribution or not.
Many discussions are about recognising slop, but the world isn’t black and white. There are worlds between pure AI garbage submitted by somebody who has no idea about software development, AI assisted coding with an expert, handwritten garbage, and artisanal “expert” code. I doubt anybody writing good code before the slopocalypse will be filtered out by any anti-AI policy. Their code may be written by AI or not and I bet you won’t be able to tell.

Sure, are a lot people who have no idea about programming and software development who will submit stuff, but the people who know what they are doing and using AI won’t be easy to find. I say it will actually be impossible unless they openly say it or leave traces like AGENTS.MD or comments inserted by the AI.
Also, who actually knows he drive by contributor well? It’s just the same as a lecture hall: unknowns.

Yes, insult the other person because you disagree, that’ll be a nice interaction.

The reaction to KDE4 was overblown. Some cavedwellers with access to internet and too much free time shit on it constantly, just like the anti-systemd crowd, but I used KDE4 throughout its lifetime and still use KDE (6 now).

Studies have shown that professors can’t tell apart AI from student submissions of writing. People like to believe they can recognise AI written or AI assisted code, but they are terrible at it.

Those are 2 years worth of vulns - from 2024 until now. Why is this news ?

Where’s the code?

I know people like to think so, but there was an empirical study done with professors who said they could recognise AI submitted work from their students and were wrong 50% of the time.

No thanks, fuck macroslop

Sure, you’re talking about the imbeciles using AI, but I dare you to tell the difference between AI and corporate talk. AI can make amazing marketing press releases because the human written ones didn’t make any sense anyway. They’re the same bullshit.
And yes, code written by AI that is simply prompted by a junior or a person who know what they’re talking about, is going to be shit. A vibe coded project will show it’s colors. But you’re ignoring (or unaware) the output that ends up in an expert’s projects. You might think you can recognise it, but I can tell you, you won’t. And if you don’t want to believe me, try it yourself.
I worked with a dude who used to finish his tasks pretty quickly and I just thought he was a good programmer. It finally dawned on me that he was using AI, because his level of the programming language wasn’t that high but the code constructs he was using were advanced and sometimes unnecessary. They weren’t bad and I’d let them through the review, because he got the job done, he understood most of what was going on and was learning the language as he went along. But I was only able to detect it because I spoke to him daily and could gauge his level of understanding more accurately. Had he submitted the code he did anonymously, in a one off PR to an opensource project that is anti-AI, I guarantee you, it would’ve gotten merged.

Interesting. LinkedIn’s job search sucks donkey dick. It’s so bad, I don’t even use it and resort to anything but LinkedIn. Unfortunately, it seems like the default place to post job ads, despite the awful search results.
Even recruiters have to spray the pool with messages because they can’t whittle it down properly. I for example keep ending up in some pool with dot net crap, despite never touching that filthy crap on the job (installing a dot net rune time doesn’t count).
I welcome a tool that is shamelessly built on top of it and honestly, I think relegating the parsing of LinkedIn job search results to a computer is the only sane way to use LinkedIn search.
Bookmarking for when I do go lm a job search again.

It’s being realistic. Work done with or without AI isn’t distinguishable. You can be 100% against something, but if you cannot even recognise it when it’s in front of you, how are you going to ban it?
No one is forcing anything. There’s nobody going around saying “you must use AI”. People are using it willingly and happily. Banning its use in a project will just lead to people using it surreptitiously.
It must also be OS in some cases (like mine), but now I have so debugging to do.
