It’d be nice to have some kind of standard Peertube instances.
Most of them are walled gardens that only exist to suit the agendas of the admins.
Peertube has this weird culture where they seem to encourage manually federating instead of automatically doing it. This means that almost all instances have very little content and the consistency across them is abysmal.
Seriously.
It does not make any sense for regular people to be uploading to youtube.
Maybe that’s part of what makes Lemmy so great.
They don’t change or add new features just for the heck of it to please people like you.

Have you noticed how most people buy things they don’t need just because they can? If not, then you need more life experience and it makes sense that you would take admin’s word at face value when they try to sucker you out of money.

I don’t really have an issue with the lemmy devs, but admins and mods can routinely suck a fat one.
Why the fuck should we be paying admins to have control over our data and be able to arbitrarily ban us because they feel like it?
No. Their reward for having users is that they’re in control. Expecting users to then pay them for that control is fucking stupid, but I don’t expect most people to realize it.
