AFAIK, you can’t crop them automatically and even dynamically if a movie has more than one aspect ratio.
You also then get problems with image-based subtitles (PGS), which you can fix automatically in mpv.
MPV, I can add custom scripts like cutting black bars for ultrawide monitors. And I like how customizable it is.
