Flippanarchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Check up on your neighborsEnglish
52·2 months agoPlease stop trying to ban guns from your neighbors. We might need to stand up for one another. The proletariat must not be disarmed.
LA has the money. How much fraud and waste are people overlooking? Could have funded a thousand sets of covered seating easily. Fix fraud with direct action, don’t wait on the system that benefits from it.
The Fediverse has been pretty authoritarian in my experience but a handful of shitty instances spoil the stew.
Never let them take your guns.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller page updated: $99 USD, releases May 4thEnglish
51·3 months agoI’m going to pass.
I’ll speak for the voices I hear around me because I hear this all the time in my conservative area:
Climate has demonstrably always been changing Our region has been cooler than average for all of the 2000s People don’t trust when the solution is always “give us more money and power”
And property taxes! I hope renters know they’re paying property taxes too.
But I can’t feed on the powerless when my cups already overfilled.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller shows signs of life, as leaker suggests that Valve has received its "first large quantity" shipmentsEnglish
81·3 months agoI have a first gen but I’m not really a fan. My one non-gamer kid likes it though.
Needs more stickers but great job, congratulations!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•With Reddit flirting with requiring Age verification, the next Rexit might be around the corner, are we ready?English
1·3 months agoEh, I’m probably leaving here after lemy.lol shuts down. Have fun!
Sometimes one of them is the case. I didn’t do anything wrong, but I forgot to do something expected of me. Fml

Open Source@lemmy.ml•LibreOffice Leave X/Twitter in favor of MastodonEnglish
2·5 months agoWell obviously. I was calling them out for the reason for the half-measure. They want to signal their values while not abandoning the larger shittier advertising market. I’ve never used Twitter/X because it’s always been an obvious cess pit but organizations can’t resist that place or Reddit, or so it seems.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•LibreOffice Leave X/Twitter in favor of MastodonEnglish
37·5 months agoThey’re reducing and not leaving X because there’s fucking nobody on mastodon in comparison. Reach still matters and the fediverse is very hostile to normies
My only concern is that as more large corporations and governments begin to use it, it becomes a much larger target for attacks and malware. There was a point in time where Apple was far more secure than Windows but it was mostly because they had a tiny fraction of the market share and hackers didn’t want to bother with attacking it
It’s getting better, no question. I’m hopeful it will continue to get better.
I don’t really care for Linux at all. I just hate Microsoft.
No it’s just to run a single proprietary software for some old hardware at my job. It won’t even be connected to the Internet. After trying for a couple of hours I had it set up and working on Win 10 in about 20 mins including the windows install.

I haven’t. I’m struggling to pay my bills. I might consider taking a job running deadbeats off of the country club grounds though.
