i still get about 70wpm just tap typing. i never really got how to do swipe typing fast. i heard apparently some swipe keyboards allow you to mostly just swipe in the direction of a key without actually touching the key and that seems like a big speedup, but i never learned it.

On windows 11 you can turn your regular cursor various colors, including green and pink, and I wish KDE could do that. I could edit cursor vectors myself, but I don’t wanna. Too lazy. I like colorful cursors because they’re easier to find and track, but I don’t want those big bloated cutesy cursors.
The FBI doesn’t have anything to do with that. It’s the company or organization that does it. They’re not allowed to positively say that they have been raided, but maybe they get through the loophole by not saying anymore that they haven’t been raided.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller and Puck CAD files now available!English
2·29 days agothe desktop layout does indeed switch between mouse + keyboard mode and gamepad mode when you hold that button (don’t know which), but I’ve also heard of people saying that in that time the controller tells the pc that it is a keyboard with gamepad inputs, which means a decent amount of games might not recognize it properly. that might be a firmware issue that’s already fixed or will be fixed, but at the moment I don’t know how well it works. I’ve ordered it early on and seem to have gotten into the second wave in germany/europe, so maybe i can share more when i receive it in a week or so (estimated based on what the order page told me)
EDIT: I have the controller now. Gamepad action set of the desktop layout works for me to use in non-steam games without launching them through steam (hold start to switch between mouse/keyboard and gamepad. configuring it can be done in controllers -> advanced). If you want to launch non-steam games (for example from heroic on linux through steam, be sure to rename the games in steam to their steam store id. For example 2097230 for “Turnip Boy Robs a Bank”. The name should show up like that in the steam library. That’s how you use steam community controller layouts with non-steam games. The id can be found in the store page url, /app/{id}/{title}/.

195·7 months agoIt’s a very usable browser and vivaldi explicitly do no AI, unlike firefox. I get that firefox is the only serious cross platform competitor to chromium, but mozilla really does consistently shoot itself in the foot. it’s like they’re masochistic.
edit: vivaldi also actually seems to have a vision and design goals, which firefox sort of lacks.

it’s not easy to (re)learn, but it’s possible. i slowly learned to type with 10 fingers over the course of like the last 6 years, just throwing my head against https://www.keybr.com/ once a year or so. the most difficult part for me was typing with my pinkies, but that only took about two hours of focused practice to start with. as with everything in life, you may get good without focused practice, but practice makes perfect.
