4·8 days agoHere’s how professionals build steps of this sort, with composite deck boards as the treads:

4·8 days agoThey put the screws in like that to hide the screws. It works when they lay the boards as deck boards, although, they should use the clips that are part of the system, but doesn’t work going into the stringer end, which is obvious to you and me, but apparently not to the “handyman” who built this.
Use Apollo brand. Use the Apollo crimping tool: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Apollo-1-2-in-and-3-4-in-PEX-B-Crimp-Tool-69PTKH0014C/301573902#overlay

I bought the tool, used it about ten times and then returned it for a refund. Just be careful with the packaging.

Linux@programming.dev•New Linux tech compresses memory in RAM, as RAM, for 452x speedup — new CRAM method offers giant boost to compressed memory reads
27·10 days agoCRAM was conceptualized by Gregory Price and his team at Meta.
Implemented on Linux because that’s where it works, but closed source, so they’ll use it on their own hardware alone? I guess this is just an interesting thing, but nothing anyone will benefit from but Zuckerberg, since he owns it.

6·13 days agoI don’t care. I play helter-skelter anyway. Just jumping around to whatever is fun, forgetting where I was, repeating stuff I liked. Never finishing the game. It’s all good.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Windows 11 is failing as an operating system
3·14 days agoI remember finding this out a while back. I tried to install it, but had some problem I don’t recall. I’ll try again. Thanks.
EDIT: Ah, right. It doesn’t find my mounted drives nor my shared drives from my server. Nor does it show previews of any filetype but images (which IS nice), just a big icon for text files, for instance.
I suppose there are fixes for these things, but I didn’t find anything in configuration or in the help section of the website after a quick search. That’s as far as I’m willing to dive into this, because I know I could spend hours on this, and still not find a solution from past experience.
Thanks, anyway.
Moths, off and on.

5·15 days agoThere’s one thing Windows does that I miss. The big preview pane in file explorer.

Oi. I had mine in my hall closet, looks a lot like yours, including the Noctua cooler and stack of hard drives. In spite of adding a vent to the top of the closet door, and a big gap at the floor it still got too hot. I ended up moving it to the spare bedroom.
