More like the car changes parts around the user space. You still have the driver and baggage (files) intact inside the car.
Alternatively, you build a new car and teleport all of the inside of the car there, teleport the car to wherever the old one was and keep going from there.
I can’t alt-tab at all out of fullscreen games on Wayland. My workaround is to send the game to another desktop. Annoying.
Even with KDE, Wayland isn’t ready yet. There are plenty of small annoynces for me, especially with the clipboard. Zoom doesn’t work right - screen sharing in general hangs the whole gui.
Lots of X based tools don’t have a good replacement yet. gpick, xkill, xclip, ssh -X, etc…

For ibstance, screen sharing is broken on one of machines. It works once and then leaks the handle. Making it impossible to share again until rebooting.
It used to crash entirely when exiting sharing and their bugfix was to swallow the exception instead of a proper fix.
They do sponsor a lot of open source projects though. ffmpeg should be one of them.

GOG works great by using Heroic Launcher or Lutris.
Hopefully, such terms would violate the above law and not hold up against it.
Debian with KDE. It’s just simple without any weird (anf hard to understand) extras like Ubuntu anf Mint.
Any distro with KDE will pretty much feel the same and debian is just a work horse.
Yes! I use nix-shell extendively in my scripts. It supercedes nvm, npx, pipx, etc for me.
That’s kinda how serverless works. You rent cpu time from a bigger cloud vendor and only spin up your servers when there is traffic.

Except I use KISS launcher, which is a whole other experience.
I’ve only used launchers to avoid enshittification e.g. Google Search box or other proprietary features that I don’t want.
I find it ironic that their webpage has meta and shopify trackers…
The refresh rate doesn’t have to be constant though. Each “step” however long it took to simulate would seem like an instant to us. Our conciousnesses are also simulated, which means we always percieve the new frames as fast as we are simulated.
The simulator could even break down and resume without us noticing. It also doesnt’t have to be fast enough to simulate a second per second. Imagine a simulator actually running for (more) billions of years. It seems silly but possible.
