Back in the day, Apple had to tweak the shuffle feature on iTunes because truly random wasn’t random enough for people. It seems incomprehensible to some that a random playlist would play the same song twice in a row. People should roll a die more often.

2·25 days agoMy parents’ porn VHS collection didn’t ask for my age and neither did my grand-dad’s titty magazines hidden in the tractor shed. Internet wasn’t even a thing for most people then yet I had already seen plenty of porn before I turned 10.
It clearly did affect me and I don’t deny that but I doubt it would’ve made much of a difference had I have to wait untill I was 18 for the flood gates to open. Nobody would’ve seen me for months if that was the case.
Correct. Show jumping poles.
I’m not from UK though.
I forgot to take pictures of how I attached the top ends of the vertical studs to the wall. I didn’t want to drill holes into the container, so I used the existing tie-down points. I bent some threaded rod into a U-shape, slipped it through the tie-down loop, and tightened the 2x4 to it with washers and wing nuts.

6·29 days agoIt’s machine screws attached into threaded inserts in the door. The same ones the original handle was attached with.
I did
GRUB_DEFAULT="1>2"instead so it now loads the previous version instead - I think. I can only hope it’s fixed for the next update then, but for now everything seems to work fine.

13·29 days agoNot gonna lie, I spent like 5 hours on the first one. Had that been a commission for a customer, it would’ve been a 300€ fridge handle. Two of them would more than double the price of the fridge itself.

The Japanese even have a term for this kind of thing: Kintsugi - for when instead of hiding the repair you embrace it. I like the aesthetic personally. I think it adds character. I’ve got plenty of builds and repairs like this around the house that might not look so pretty but are handmade and of high quality.

3·29 days agoI’m yet to dive into that rabbit hole but it’s just a matter of time. My understanding however is that the technology is already mature enough to be actually practical for normal users too.

While definitely not the cheapest and probably not hugely efficient either, just getting one of those Ecoflow, Jackery, Bluetti style power banks and hooking it up to a solar panel would likely be the easiest solution and comes with the benefit of being able to easily be moved elsewhere and the powerbank itself is a good off-grid power source to replace a generator.
