Because the people submitting the code are to be held responsible as always. If you are using Claude gemini or whoever and submit its code without checking. And you fuck something up that is on you, and you will be held responsible. Is how it should be.

People are going to use it if they want to. And realistically there isn’t a lot that you can do to stop it all. They’ll just start using it without attribution. There is no automated system that will be able to stop it. And policing it manually will do nothing but bogg down the current maintainers allowing them to accomplish even less.

If someone is submitting a lot of problematic slop code they don’t understand. They will be booted from the project like any other bad maintainer.

Interesting. I haven’t noticed it any myself. Though I watch plenty YT. It could come down to content type or even upload date. Will have to watch when I get home. Though honestly a good portion of what I “watch” on YT are podcast type things where the visuals aren’t that important. PBS Spacetime is one of the few I pay close attention to visuals on. As its often the main way I’ll have a good chance of understanding the discussion lol.

They added a voluntary field for date of birth. Very controversial. Not at all like the address field that had been there for years or realname. Those are completely uncontroversial somehow. Unfortunately it got added during all this uncertainty with all the user I’d government overreach. And people lost their everloving minds claiming it was some sinister forced Id check. It was not. But all the craze around it launched tens of already dead systemD forks.

There absolutely are people, good people at Microsoft that do contribute a lot to free and open source projects. But Microsoft as a company has been horrible for 40 years. Yep. I have 1 windows 11 system at home. And I hate using it when I have to. Always some painful update that takes forever. Or intrusive nagging popups trying to sell me something. My main system runs arch. There are updates daily, but its never as derailing as windows updates. Updating is a breeze. No nagging. The system just does what I want. Because I own it fully. It’s fantastic.

It’s the same as the mobile app. Lift off I think it was the other client that used to have a Linux version. Though it hasn’t been maintained in a couple of years. I’ve not seen a version of Voyager that was actually compiled to run on desktop or linux. Just web app wrappers.

Interstellar exists for Linux.
