When you look at the way windows handles i18n, it’s fair to say it caters to the US market.

MacOS at 20% globally does seem to be extremely high. I would have expected something like 15 at most.

At the time, I needed a system able to handle editing a couple hundred pages document without issues. Windows with word couldn’t do it, Linux managed it gracefully despite not even being at 1.0 (and it also handled the network much, much better).

I’ve been using it ever since.

That’s probably the simplest solution. Even though it’s not intellectually satisfying, I don’t think there’s another option at the moment.

For historical reasons, I’ve had a /space partition for several machines now. It’s used for large media archives, buffering towards other servers (which only grab stuff every now and then), cold storage and the like.

But if you fuck up in fiction, your series can get cancelled.

They seem undercooked to me.

It was a bit like the Green Card of Canonical. An Earth Shattering Kaboom, that nobody but the nerds noticed.

Started with Slackware, basically when Slackware came out. Now either OpenSuSE Tumbleweed or Fedora because I can’t be arsed to meddle with my machine for days to make it work. I just want to use it, not tweak it.

And yet we’re still using that file system…

Windows 3.1 (or word 2, really) for me. One of the very few things I got right.
