In this case the nuance and intention both are “they admit they knew these were nazi symbols but decided to send them out anyways, fully aware it may cause offense (which is why QA didn’t send them to german users (possibly also because this flirts with being actually illegal in germany))”. So… no, “Nazi incident” really isn’t a bad way to describe it. While you yourself may be ignorant of common nazi symbols (and I envy you that particular source of bliss), you are (perhaps fortunately) not representative of the whole population - and unfortunately given what they’ve said, GOG has made clear they were not laboring under a similar ignorance. This was Not Good before the apology, but that response really made this indefensible.
