Which one of these is the best? See my prior post for the space this needs to fit in. But the basics are “Mucha style framing fill motif” with a tropical theme. I am leaning towards one of the first two. But if you have a different idea please draw it up and present it.
2,1,3
2 or 3
2 looks a little like Sakura designs
3 has more tropical vibes as I see that flower all over the tropics
I feel like 3 is just inept. I need to work on it.
it reads as birds of paradise. I like it more than #1 because it gives more variation on the way up. #2 and #3 work for frames; #1 is too unique / not repeating enough, and #4 & 5 are too repetitive (perhaps with color and shading - and some projected shadows - you could pull it off but why not go with the more interesting linework?)
that’s just my own opinions tho. lovely stuff all over. #1 is so detailed I want more of it horizontally and feel it’s underserved as border detail.
Number 2 is plumeria, the flower of leis. So it’s definitely tropical.
Or 2 AND 3? It looks like cherry blossom and birds of paradise?
1, 3, 5, in that order. #5 is more tribal in nature, reminiscing of Marajoara polygonal motifs in pottery.
The first one looks best to me!
Can you tell what it is? I think it’s the most interesting but I’m a little worried that people won’t recognize what it’s supposed to represent.
Looks a little like a century plant to me but I’m not knowledgeable about tropical plants.
Edit: is it aloe??
Narrator: it was definitely aloe
Looks a bit like hops, but upside down.
Hops have much smaller leaves. And the cones are upside down. But I’m just a person who has brewed a lot of beer.
You can probably use both of the first two, if you want - i.e. the 1st one in the bottom half, the 2nd one on the top half. They’re are certainly examples of similar being done in his art nouveau stuff.
The space these will occupy are parallel. So they should match for art nouveau.

#2 and #3 or a combination of the two
Aha, #1 in both :)
Maybe a coconut tree would look good in one of them?
That’s a good idea. Just narrow enough to fit the profile
Took these pics for you from a local brunch spot here in Sri Lanka as some inspo hth

Thank you. Some interesting leaf shapes there. And I’ve never seen a one color bird of paradise before.
I vote for the plumeria. But I hope you’re going to use color to get that beautiful shading from a deeper center to pale edges. And shading to bring out that pinwheel effect of the petals.
