Lmfao my SteamDeck’s audio broke for some reason while I was messing with Lutris (because yaRrr 🏴‍☠️), so I had to copy-paste a random redditor’s terminal commands into konsole and I honestly am not knowledged enough to know if it was malicious, but it had a few upvotes and was up for more than a week without getting taken down, so I just assume it’s probably fine.

One of these days, I’m gonna copy paste malware into the terminal lol.

Lol I finally did something like that, except it wasn’t malware, it was just me being an idiot. Last week I had to reimage my Steam Deck because I tried to install a cool Win 7 Aero theme off github and I followed the Arch linux install instructions. After pasting the commands blindly into Konsole, I got a few errors, and then it was just a black screen with my desktop icons only remaining. My desktop environment was completely fucked lol. Gamemode worked fine though.

Lesson learned. Don’t fuck around with the konsole while you’re sleep deprived thinking “I got this”. The theme was legit, but I guess SteamOS simply being based off Arch didn’t mean it would necessarily work either…

install tldr and run it on the command and it should give you a general idea what the command is doing.
