Including fascists in a debate is not “platforming”. Bringing fascists onto Bro Jogan where he can just nod and say, “Dude, so true” is platforming. Anyone watching this episode would not have come away with the conclusion that this dude was right-headed. Mehdi Hassan held up very well against this fool.
Have we all collectively forgotten that the whole world kinda fought a war about this a while back? Giving fascists any opportunity to espouse their views is giving them a platform. The only “debate” a fascist deserves is a bullet.
As soon as he admits he’s a fascist, he’s removed from the debate. The other contestants “on his side” vote him out as well (with the red flags in this Jubilee format.)
Debates are not the same as talk shows, long form podcast interviews, news appearances, etc.
Here is a short, nuanced discussion on it from left-leaning podcast, Conspirituality.
I guess, disclaimer if it’s not clear, I’m anti fascist.
He was able to continue his tirade after declaring himself a fascist for quite a while, ultimately until the debate fizzled out and they became silent, and only after the others clapped for the fascist did they finally vote him out.
