Photos of a Grizzly Bear I saw on 7/9/25 hiking the Pitamakan Pass trail in Glacier National Park.

Grizzly bear searching around on the hillside. Decent view of the hump on its shoulder/back.

Grizzly bear in profile from a distance. I think later hikers may have dealt with a closer bear.

Shot of the Grizzly looking at me. Didn’t show any interest in me from far away and may not have really registered I was there.

When I was there last there they had thunderstorms so we couldn’t do Pitamakan. Took a boat ride instead. Looking forward to next season. Nice bear!

I did it last september after being told it was the best in the park on a prior visit. It’s great. Long and plenty of elevation, but there aren’t any real difficult sections and the views are just non-stop. The section I did this time is the worst section haha, but my body said not to do the big climb up from Oldman and the dawson had a re-route due to bear. I’ll eventually have that whole hike posted, sometime this winter. Definitely worth doing if you make it back.

I’ll be back next season. I stayed in the two medicine campground this last time and definitely will again. Lots of sheep and good views.
