Pitch Background I read Johann Hari's Stolen Focus recently - this is really critical reading for anyone developing or running any kind of social media service. One part of it really stuck with me ...
Please actually tell us what is a leftist in your eyes? Are you talking about socialists, or social democrats, or liberals? Pretty much everyone right of liberal is an extreemist (classical conservatives and libertarians are “liberals” fyi), so I don’t see the point on that front. They are “illiberal” in the sense that they want to control your religion, your way of life, your speech, mixing of races, or whatever. Social democrats are as far left as modern european and USA politics actually goes in the mainstream, and those are liberals too, because so far no society on earth exists without tax and spend, but that doesn’t mean they are unfree or “socialist” (the workers do not own the means of production). But yes, “socialists” do often veer into “red fascist” territory, primarily because they are generally revolutionary. So again, your words really matter, and you aren’t necessarily going to find people with “pure” ideologies on a random internet sample anyway.
I agree that there are no “pure” people. I was mainly talking about ones who oppress religion and opposing opinions (that are not even nazi). Also nice to see some civil-ish discussion for once.
