Warhammer is now what the Empire was parodying in the fiction.
A bloated system run by bureaucrats, keeping things exactly the same, because everyone involved in the creation, and who understands what made it good, is now gone.
Except instead of scores of over-zealous inquisitors they have a massive over-zealous legal team.
The game stopped improving in a meaningful way years ago. There are similar alternative systems that are more fun. Minis are available for a fraction of the price. Games Workshop’s entire M.O. nowadays is to make sure that as few people as possible catch on.
Their bullshit around pricing is what irks me the most. 500 percent markup with no justification is an abuse to their player base. Like it’s not bad enough you have to assemble and paint which requires further investment (part of the fun but making a point) but they charge you as if they’re assembling and painting them for you. I really wanted to get into it, but realizing all the layers just to be able to play, and then at the end of the road if you do invest all that time/money there’s some meta fuckwit that’s been in it long enough to figure out which faction is the most broken / OP and just wipes the table with your ass while smiling smugly over a rulebook. Literally no desire at this point to even invest. /rant
I do enjoy the books/lore/shows bits though.
Video games aren’t half bad either. Space Marine 2 was a fuckin blast.
Does Warhammer realize that though
I think we’re probably some ~20 years out from the last time Warhammer was seriously (ha) a parody.
Exactly this.

Blame the influx of people who don’t understand satire
