I guess it’s a platter vs energy cost thing. For me it’s way cheaper to buy more storage for my little puck PC that can handle ~4 streams at 1080p and sips power.

I don’t want to fuck around on a few sites just to watch something ‘right now’. My setup let’s me request any media I want and it’ll get pulled, scraped, and made available to me, my friends, and family near instantly.

If you’re not trying to cultivate your own tastes then you’re just letting a corporate blackbox drive your interests and aesthetics.
