Gives me heraldic vibes, I like it. Maybe lean into that? Perhaps add a shield like contour to bring it together, or play around with other heraldic elements.

Maybe if you lower the whiskers to be closer to the nose it will read better.

Also be mindful of the symmetry, and make sure your shapes are clean, you have some bumps here and there that make the design a little messy.

I think you can make this idea work, remember: less is more.

Not really, (l’ve used different brands, tho) but I don’t think it’s the tablet.

have you been using a drawing tablet for long? Or is it something new for you? Maybe you are adjusting to the process. Imo, tablets without display have a significant learning curve.

Also, how long are your drawing sessions? make sure to take breaks!

Or, It could be your posture what’s causing discomfort.

Awesome images. Krita is pretty good, free and open source. I still mainly use photoshop, but CC 2014. It works for me, Maybe you can find a non suscription version sailing the high seas?
